Marrakesh has been known to be one of the most visited cities in the world. It could be the perfect escape for a few weeks or even a few months. However, there is a lot of celebrities that have decided to make Marrakesh their home. It could be the weather, the ambiance or its food. What we know for sure is that they have fallen for the charm of the red city.

Yves Saint Laurent

The French clothing designer has fallen in love with the city of Marrakesh. His first visit dates to 1966. He is known for not only his clothing line but also for his humanitarian work with Pierre Bergé. The two French men saved the Majorelle Gardens from being replaced by another industrial Hotel. He then made the Oasis villa his residence, from then his inspiration and love only grew for Marrakesh.


Maître Gims

Maître Gims is a well-known French Rapper. He has invested a lot of his time in Marrakesh, not only in concerts but he also purchased a property that amounts to 5 million Euros. He is always excited to share his colorful life in Marrakesh on social media.


Mireille Darc

The French actress Mireille Darc has lived a romantic journey within the walls of the Zahia Palace. It was purchased with her other half at the time Alain Delon. The connection built with the red city has continued long after the couple has separated. She has invested time in visiting the city and indulging in its corners.


BHL et Arielle Dombasle

The romantic vibes of the Zahia Palace have been purchased by the couple BHL and Arielle Dombasle. They are at this moment still enjoying their home, in the comfort of Marrakesh. You might catch them walking through the streets of Gueliz or the alleys of the Medina.


Serge Lutens

The famous perfumer has made his big decision after hopelessly adoring Marrakesh; by making his purchase of his first house there. It was in 1974 that he acquired the Riad. It is located right in the heart of the Medina. He has spent more than 35 years of his life with the investment of the best artisans to create a haven that he never got to live in. It is now accessible to the clients of the Royal Mansour, to witness the work of art left by this man.


Dominique Strauss-Kahn

Dominque has acquired his own Riad within the medina. In fact, it was a few minutes away from the residence of BHL and Arielle Dombasle. He made Marrakesh his residence as he confirmed his infatuation with the country while falling for the charm of his now wife Myriam Aouffir.


Juan Goytisolo

The accomplished Spanish writer was fond of the Arab world and its culture. He was, however, more passionate about the red city. he had Jemaa El Fna square as his source of inspiration in many of his books. As much as he loved Marrakesh, he drew his last breath in it in 2017.

The ex-prime minister of the United Kingdom needs no introduction. He was known for his intelligence and poise but also for his love for the red city. He was frequently staying the luxurious La Mamounia Hotel spending most of his time soaking in the sun and painting.


Jean Lefebvre

The famous French actor has made an abrupt decision at the age of 80 to move his life to Marrakesh. He then invested in opening his restaurant La Bohème. His time was limited in Marrakesh, as he died 4 years later, but it was probably one of the most exciting years of his life.
