Concept & Location

La Cour des Lions occupies the penthouse of the Es Saadi Palace Hotel in Marrakech. From its large picture windows and terrace, the view stretches over the hotel’s gardens, the western side of the city and the Atlas Mountains, offering a particularly pleasant atmosphere at sunset. The venue stands out for its warm ambiance, enhanced by the sound of the oud welcoming guests as they arrive.

Architecture & Design

Designed by Moroccan architect Aziz Lamghari, the restaurant blends Moroccan heritage with Andalusian influences, drawing inspiration from the iconic Cour des Lions at the Alhambra. Notable features include:

  • A sculpted dome inspired by the Alhambra
  • Carved columns and ceilings
  • Large windows and picture windows
  • Intricate plaster cornices, rosettes and lace-like details

The space includes a large lounge and two terraces, creating an elegant, authentic and majestic setting where light dances across the carved details, giving the place a truly unique atmosphere.

Culinary Offering

Led by Chef Fatéma Hal and her team, the cuisine combines Moroccan traditions with French techniques, highlighting the Kingdom’s signature dishes:

  • Mourouzia with Ras el Hanout (a recipe dating back to the 12th century)
  • A selection of tajines: lamb, beef, fish
  • Traditional and revisited Berber couscous
  • Pigeon pastilla and milk pastilla
  • Sea bass tajine with Taliouine saffron
  • Local, organic produce sourced from the Potager du Bled

Each dish reflects Berber, Arab-Muslim and Jewish influences, telling the story of Morocco’s great culinary families and their heritage.
