Ramadan festivities in Dubai 2013

CULTURE The Holy month of Ramadan is always a special time of year, and in the city of Duba, there is certainly no shortage of festivities to be enjoyed throughout the month, by the locals, tourists and expats alike. MiM City take a look at some of the upcoming events....

Ramadan Majlis 

Each year the Sheikh Saeed hall in the Dubai World Trade Centre, is transformed into a traditional and elegant Arabesque dining room. The Majlis will offer an iftar buffet daily and suhoor from an a la carte menu. Areas can also be hired out for a private occasion. 

When: Wednesday 10th July to Friday 9th August, 2013, 7pm to 9pm for iftar and 9pm to 3am (4am on weekends) for suhoor. 

Where: Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Dubai World Trade Centre

Price range: AED 135 per person 

Fast for a day

Fast for a day is a cultural understanding and learning event for those who do not celebrate Ramadan, to gain a better understanding of the significance of Ramadan by fasting for a day. Each participant will receive helpful advice and tips on fasting before the day of the event to better prepare them, on the day of the event, each participant will be invited to a special iftar at the Dubai World Trade centre.

Al Mutaqa Ramadan Forum 2013

The 12th edition of the successful Ramadan forum offers 12 days of events for the whole family, from a diverse selection of speakers, a childrens corner and entertainment, free medical services and check-ups to an iftar tent that can accommodate upto 4000 personnes. 

When: Friday 12th to Tuesday 23rd July, 2013

Price range: free

Modhesh World 2013

As every year, this year Modhesh World proves to be just as exciting and innovative in providing the best entertainment and fun for youngsters in the city. The event will provide cultural and learning experiences for children, arts and crafts, a snow park, an adventure world, a princess spa, kids pizza making zone and much more..there is also a play area for toddlers. 

When: Thursday 20th June to Wednesday 28th August, 2013

Where: Modhesh World, Dubai World Trade Centre

Price range: AED 15, for children and adults

Ramadan Tent

The Habtoor Grand Beach Resort and Spa will be be hosting a Ramadan tent for families and corporate occasions. In a traditional Arabian theme with the decor to match, the iftar tent will be offering fresh juices and specialities from an a la carte menu and suhoor later in the evening. 

When: Wednesday 10th July to Friday 9th August, 2013, iftar from sunset - 8.30pm, suhoor from 9pm - 3am

Where: The Habtoor Grand Beach Resort and Spa, Dubai Marina

Price Range: AED 160 per person for group brookings, a la carte prices vary

The Cultural Event

The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding will be offering a full immersion into Emirati culture for visitors. The centre is the perfect experience for families with young children, expats in Dubai who wish to learn more about Ramadan and locals wishing to take part in community celebrations. Everyday, iftar will begin 15 minutes before sunset with prayer, Arabic coffee, tea and dates before a full buffet of traditional Emirati dishes. There will be mosque tours, speakers on the meaning of the holy month, a main course and dessert. 

When: Wednesday 10th July to Friday 9th August, 2013, 6.30pm - 10pm

Where: Bastakiya, Bur Dubai

Price range: AED 135 for adults, free for children under 12
