FESTIVAL From 21st to 26th November, 2013, over 175 exhibitors will be present at the Emirates International Date Palm Festival of Abu Dhabi the second date festival this year.

The festival, which takes place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, will offer visitors the chance to sample a large variety of dates from locations around the world, including those from the region. It is also an excellent opportunity for exhibitors to present their goods to a wider audience.

The date festival is a cultural event tied to the region's heritage as much as it is a trade event. The date has long been a staple in the diet of the UAE and is a food that is seen as a nourishing and integral part of the diet that provides many vitamins. It is also a welcome food that is served to guests in homes, restaurant, cafes...usually alongside milk or tea or coffee, a custom not only reserved for the UAE but many other Arab countries also. The date festival celebrates the ties this food has to the rich cultural heritage of the UAE and beyond, it is an event that means to engage its visitors in learning about the different varieties dates available, the myraid of tastes and sweet notes of each date and the regions they are typically grown in.

It is also a great event for children to further learn about the history of the date in UAE culture and take part in the number of activities available throughout the festival, such as; an educational maze, a giant puzzle, a palm tree climbing competition and a date museum that will be open to visit. There will also be a date kitchen, where you can learn about the use of dates as a cooking and baking ingredient.
